A Simple New Year Practice
How a few kind words can reconnect us all
Dear friends,
As we step into a new year, I’d like to offer a simple idea — one that costs nothing, takes very little time, and yet has the power to soften the world around us.
I call it becoming a health ambassador.
Imagine if each of us picked up the phone today and reached out to one, two, or three people we haven’t spoken to in a while. No long conversations. No fixing. No advice.
Just a few sincere words:
“I wanted to wish you well for the new year.”
“I hope you have good health this year.”
“My heart goes out to you.”
That’s it.
No lingering. No expectations. Just kindness — offered freely, then passed along.
I often ask myself:
How many people could we reach in one day if we did this together?
How many texts, calls, messages, or quiet Zoom moments might ripple outward — simply reminding one another that we are not alone?
We live on this planet together. We share the same human nervous system. And in a world that often feels fragmented, even a small gesture of care can restore a sense of connection.
A little something, practiced over time, becomes a lot.
Before I close, I want to say thank you.
Thank you for listening, for sharing, for supporting Mind Body Health & Politics, and for being part of this growing community. Your presence here matters more than you may realize.
We have bigger goals for the year ahead — deeper conversations, broader reach, and continued work toward health, clarity, and connection. I’m grateful to walk into this new year with you.
May the year ahead bring you steadiness, warmth, and moments of genuine human contact.
Golden Light,
Dr. Richard Louis Miller
1-minute mind control (my latest book)
Traditional mindfulness and meditation techniques often require a huge investment of your most precious resource (time) without guarantees of results.
My own version of mindfulness—what I sometimes refer to as “mind control”—can be mastered in much less time if you commit to regular 60-90 second practice throughout the day.
Breathing. Witnessing. Changing the channel on negative thoughts.
I’ve honed these techniques over a lifetime of personal and professional practice, and now I’m sharing them with the world.
